Sylvain Bazin, a french trail runner, our first partner!

At the age of 32, Sylvain Bazin,  decided to dash into what nobody has ever made: cross the greatest hiking trails in the world. From Nepal to Lichtenstein, Martinique to Buthan, the Carpathians to Colombia via Spain, the United States to  Himalaya, he is about to run over 15 000 km in 3 years for his “Trail World  Tour”. A huge, amazing and doubtless crazy project,  which we did not hesitate to take part . Meet Sylvain, this passionate of  the world, this crazy racer, this lover of unusual experiences.

Sylvain, Can you describe yourself in few words?

SB: “” Ultra-runner, journalist, photographer … All children are running , I’ve never stopped. Running and walking  became a way for me to exist, a means of travel, lifestyle and a way to feel the world. I live my life with my feet, share  my experiences with my hands, writing, filming and making photos. ”

How did you get the idea of Trail World Tour?

SB: ”  In recent years  I’ve walked a lot in the world, on racing events but also ” off ” simply alone or with friends.  I thus have more and more envy to discover these roads, their realities, the nature and people who live all around. And then the idea of enchainement is interesting, it shows the variety and the wealth that can bring the same activity, that so natural to walk on a road. A wealth just like the world, I think.

This is a huge, unbelievable and crazy project… Have taste for danger and adventure always been drivers for you?

SB: “A little crazy … maybe. Finally let us say that I am doubtless a little more idealistic than the average. The taste for danger? Doubtless a little, nevertheless I am not a kamikaze in the soul either! It’s true that I take some risks in life, trying to lead the way I want, not necessarily according to the social model or the most common … Seriously I think this is part of a continuity for me. I went from “classic” running  to adventure trails, with a leaning more and more marked for travel where the challenge is physically present but becomes especially a “passport” for the discovery and the adventure, as during my bike trip to Mongolia or during Himal Race in Tibet and Nepal.  Walking on the great hiking trails will be the opportunity  to satisfy my  thirst for sports travel  and inside adventure too. ”

Do you have some fears ? What has already been the hardest during your trips ?

SB: “I do not really fear anything in particular … Of course there may be many things, but  I’m not sure there is much more dangerous things during my trips than staying at home. What I’ve already suffer of  is the extremely humid heat, but it is especially annoying when you run a lot… ”

Most beautiful?

“A lot of beautiful images and moments, so it’s hard to choose. Side landscape, the Himalayas are still striking. The view of the chain of Mount Everest from the Renjo… This, is incredible . My discovery of the Sahara are  engraved  in my memory too, but the moments shared with friends, meetings or on the road are just as important. And there, I have many beautiful memories! ”

The most unusual story?

SB: “Maybe these Mongolian nomads during my long bike ride over there, who track you down with binoculars and ride towards you on horseback to join on the runway or to invite you to take the tea under the yurt. A sense of the hospitality and a search for the really nice contact little surprising the first time

What you expect of our collaboration?

SB: “I think Geonaute‘s products will help me in my travels and adventures on the one hand to guide me, thanks to GPS, situate myself with watches mountain enlighten me on the other hand will also help me to communicate: to better tell where I am, but also to produce the image and communication, which is also one of the objectives of this project, because I want to share my adventures! Finally I like the idea of having sensitive partners  to my projects and with whom I will be able to exchange, in my experience , in the field of products, ease of use and efficiency. ”

Geonaute committed to provide materials to Sylvain during the Trail World Tour like  GPS and a camera G-EYE with which he’s going to share with us and with you his most beautiful emotions.

Sylvain took of this morning to cross the Martinique. First step in an adventure that we begin together.

Have a nice Trip Sylvain !
